Why Comfort Keepers for Home Care?

Let’s talk about home care. We all like to think our parents are going to live forever. That they will remain independent and strong, that they will continue to ‘parent’ us. However, for most of us, there will come a time when we have to ‘parent’ our parents. When we have to look out for them, offer advice, care for them. For those of us who live far away from our parents, it can be bewildering knowing where to start. If a parent needs care urgently or suddenly, for example, if they need short-term care for a number of weeks while they recover from a fall or a broken limb, it may be something that you haven’t had to consider before or ask anyone for advice so you are starting from scratch.

Why Comfort Keepers for home care?

Firstly, Comfort Keepers is a family owned business. We formed it when searching for care for our own family members. We want to ensure that we provide care of the highest possible standards. Our mission is to provide clients with the highest quality of care achievable. It is important to us that every client is treated with respect and dignity, receiving a high level of care just as if they were receiving care from a trained carer in their own family.

We have nine branches across the country. Each office is manned by Client Care Managers who have either a nursing or social care background. They work closely with all carers, providing training and mentoring, visiting clients regularly and re-assessing their needs frequently. We believe all our carers dedicate themselves fully to their role. Every carer employee undergoes rigorous vetting and checking and they undertake regular training. Our client care managers support them as well as carrying out regular spot checks.

We are very proud to be the first Home Care organisation to achieve the Q Mark for excellence in all services provided. We work hard to ensure that our standards are kept to a very high standard. Regular training is provided for all carers. With this, we also hold a ‘Carer of the Year’ to reward our carers and ensure that their hard work and dedication are recognised. Comfort Keepers is a member of HCCI (Home and Community Care Ireland) and we have achieved ISO certification.  We work closely with the HSE and are their preferred provider in each of the locations where we provide services for home care.

How we can help with home care

Comfort Keepers offers flexible care too, we know that circumstances change and we work with what our clients require. We provide care from half an hour a day to overnight stays. We have carers available seven days a week and 365 days a year. Some clients will require care on a daily basis, others may only require it once or twice a week.  We have regular meetings with the client and/or the client’s family to discuss any changes that may be required. We want to help people to be able to stay living in their own home, to enjoy living in their own communities with independence and dignity.

Our services at Comfort Keepers include personal care, companionship, homemaking, respite care, disability care, and also Alzheimers and dementia care. We offer all of these services to those over 18 years of age.

So, be sure contact your nearest Comfort Keepers office to speak to one of our client care managers if you have any queries. In our next post, we share an interview with one of our ‘Carer of the Year’ winners. Breege shares why she loves her job and why she is so proud to be a Comfort Keepers carer.
