Sonya Morgan is the Comfort Keepers DSW4 Carer of he Year. She started working for Comfort Keepers two years ago and is currently completing the last module of her training. Previously to her career as a carer, she worked in retail. She cared for her grandmother for some time, discovered she was good at it and enjoyed it and when she saw there were job vacancies for professional home carers, she decided to apply and hasn’t looked back.
Sonya mostly works from 9-6 Monday to Friday, seeing clients for appointments of either 30 or 60 minutes and stopping for a quick break at her own home for lunch. She drives from one client’s to another and mentions that punctuality and reliability are very important.
“I really can’t see myself doing anything else. I love my job and my clients were also delighted to hear that I was the DSW4 Carer of the Year, they said it was well-deserved. To know I’m also a winner in their eyes makes me very proud.”
It’s clear that Sonya took to training like a “duck to water” and while she would recommend it as a career, she does state that it’s not for everyone. She loves meeting her clients every day, getting to know the different characters and finds the office staff to be wonderfully supportive and friendly. We wish Sonya well in the next stage of the Comfort Keepers Carer of the Year 2015.
