Changes to Manual Handling Training

We are working to improve the mandatory retraining for Manual Handling, that occurs for all employees in Comfort Keepers every 18 months.

This is designed to support every employee’s training requirement – which is a mandatory HSE requirement – and will, in turn, help support you as you deliver care to our clients in the community.

From the 1st of March, the following changes will be occurring, on the day of your retraining course, you will be required to bring with you:

  • An up to date Children’s First Training Certificate (available at: https://childrenfirst.hseland.ie/)
  • An up to date Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Training Certificate (available on Learn Upon)
  • A valid form of I.D. (in order to complete your garda vetting invitation)

Please note that the Children’s First and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults certification is a mandatory requirement, set by the HSE for all healthcare workers in Ireland. This must be completed and certification provided on the day of Manual Handling Retraining.

If you have not yet registered on Learn Upon, our online learning system, please be sure to contact the Learning & Development Department on 01 8047333 to have your account set up so that you can complete the Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Children’s First course.

These changes are designed to support a more streamlined learning and validation process which will ensure your compliance with HSE training requirements and more importantly, help arm you with the knowledge to deal with potentially challenging situations you may encounter while at work.

Thank you in advance on working with us to ensure you are receiving the necessary retraining to keep you safe and supported in the communities in which you work.
