Eileen Heffernan is the Kildare Carer of the Year, she has been working with Comfort Keepers for just over four years and previously to that, worked as a home help and also looked after her husband. She works between 25-30 hours a week and at the moment, looks after six clients. She works Monday – Friday plus a Saturday morning.
When I asked Eileen what does she most like about caring, her response was immediate. “I love looking after clients and caring for them as well as if they are my own parents. I know I’m making a difference to their lives and that their families appreciate me too.”
Being a good carer means sticking to the care plan but helping out your client as appropriate on a day to day basis.
Eileen loves meeting people and their families and is delighted to be representing her office in Naas. We wish her well in the next stage and look forward to hearing if Eileen is one of the four regional finalists of this year’s Carer of the Year.
